Odesa mayor Trukhanov served with notice of suspicion at Boryspil airport

Representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have served Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov with a notice of suspicion at Kyiv's Boryspil Airport.

Oleh Slobodian, an assistant to the head of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, confirmed the report to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We executed the order of law enforcement agencies, informed the initiators, and representatives of NABU served him with a notice of suspicion," Slobodian said.

Radio Liberty journalist Natalka Sedletska wrote on Facebook that Trukhanov was arrested at Boryspil Airport on February 14 after returning to Ukraine from Warsaw.

The NABU reported on February 13 that NABU detectives had notified Trukhanov and three Odesa City Council deputies of being suspects.

According to the NABU, all these individuals are involved in the scheme of causing damage to the local budget of Odesa. In September 2016, Odesa City Council acquired a building that previously belonged to the integral property complex of the Krayan Plant from a private company for UAH 185 million. In early 2016, the private company bought this complex at an auction organized by the liquidator of the state enterprise for UAH 11.5 million.
