More than one million cancer patients have been registered in Ukraine.

More than 130,000 new cases of oncology are registered annually.

"In Ukraine, there are more than a million cancer patients. More than 130,000 new cases are registered each year (143 thousand cases in 2017). The Health Ministry is working to ensure that as many Ukrainians as possible have access to free treatment, and it also stresses the need for cancer prevention, simple things can reduce a risk by 30%," the report said.

In 2017, funding for the purchase of drugs for the treatment of oncology in adults doubled (UAH 809 mln was allocated while UAH 397 million in 2016) and for the treatment of cancer in children increased by 63% (UAH 558 million while UAH 353 million was allocated in 2016).

In addition, the Health Ministry has optimized spending on a number of programs during 2017, so it was possible to save UAH 100 million. These funds were redistributed to purchase drugs for the treatment of adult oncology.
