Diaspora welcomes expansion of Canada’s military training in Ukraine

An increase in the number of Canadian military instructors in Ukraine is a very important step for strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine.

National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) Paul Grod stated this, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The deployment of additional 48 members of the Canadian Armed Forces to Operation UNIFIER is an important step in the process of strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities. The UCC commends the Government of Canada for its continuing commitment to the Ukrainian people,” he said.

“Since 2014, Ukraine’s military has undergone profound transformation. Due in part to the training by Canada and allied nations, today the Ukrainian army is an effective and battle-ready fighting force. In turn, Canada and allied nations are learning valuable lessons from their Ukrainian counterparts,” Paul Grod stated.

As reported, this week, Canada announced the temporary expansion of its military contingent in Ukraine to organize military exercises of the Armed Forces at the battalion level.
