Russian saboteur Ageyev sentenced to ten years in prison

Novoaidar District Court in Luhansk region has found Russian serviceman Viktor Ageyev guilty of terrorism and sentenced him to ten years in prison, Ageyev's lawyer, Viktor Chevhuz, has said. 

"Today Russian Viktor Ageyev was sentenced by Novoaidar District Court in Luhansk region to ten years of imprisonment," Hromadske.TV quoted him as saying.

According to him, a judicial investigation was completed and a judicial debate was held in the Ageyev case on January 24.

Ageyev is charged with participation in hostilities on the side of the LPR terrorist organization, as well as in illegal possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition.

The prosecutor asked the court to sentence Ageyev to 12 years in prison, with confiscation of property. The court partially satisfied the petition of the prosecutor's office, choosing the penalty of ten years of imprisonment.

According to the report, the lawyer said he would file an appeal against a court ruling.

As reported, in June 2017, Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen spotted a subversive and reconnaissance group of militants and captured four people, one of whom was a resident of the Altai Krai of Russia, Russian serviceman Viktor Ageyev.
