The Cassation Administrative Court, part of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, will consider on January 29 a lawsuit filed by Mikheil Saakashvili, the leader of the Movement of New Forces, against Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko about the illegality of his decree depriving the former Georgian president of Ukrainian citizenship.

The respective information is available on the website of the judiciary, Ukrinform reports.

The case is to be considered at 12.00 at 8 Moskovska Street in Kyiv. The lawsuit will be heard by a panel of judges chaired by Raisa Khanova.

As reported, on July 26, 2017, President Petro Poroshenko issued a decree stripping Saakashvili of Ukrainian citizenship.

On September 10, Saakashvili broke through the Polish-Ukrainian border, surrounded by his supporters. On October 25, Saakashvili said he had received documents from the Presidential Administration regarding deprivation of his citizenship and planned to appeal this decision in court.
