274 cases of freedom of speech violations recorded in Ukraine this year – Institute of Mass Information

This year, 274 cases of violations of freedom of speech and expression were recorded on the territory controlled by Ukraine, according to the results of the annual study conducted by the Institute of Mass Information (IMI).

"In 2017, 274 cases of violations of freedom of speech were recorded on the territory controlled by Ukraine (as of December 28), which is slightly more than last year (IMI recorded 264 violations of freedom of speech in Ukraine in 2016, 310 cases - in 2015, 995 cases - in 2014)," the report reads.

At the same time, together with the occupied Crimea (16) and the territories of Donbas (3), the number of violations of freedom of speech amounted to 293 cases this year, the Institute of Mass Information added.
