Another U.S. State recognizes Holodomor as genocide against Ukrainian people

Governor of the State of Wisconsin has signed proclamation on the recognition of the Holodomor famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as genocide against Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States reports. 

“Governor of the State of Wisconsin Scott Walker signed proclamation. Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. expresses its gratitude to the U.S. States's authorities for support and restoration of historical justice in the memory of those Ukrainians who lost their lives during that tragedy caused by the Soviet regime,” reads the statement.

Holodomor was recognized as genocide against Ukrainian people by the State of Washington, Wisconsin, Oregon, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Earlier, the U.S. Congress had represented a draft resolution on the recognition of Holodomor as genocide against Ukrainian people.
