Foreign Ministry demands end to destruction of indigenous people of Crimea

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry admits that a new wave of searches and detentions of the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea is a revenge for a resolution of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Crimea.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mariana Betsa reported this on Twitter.

"Again searches, detentions in the occupied Crimea. Is it Russia's revenge for the resolution of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Crimea? We demand an end to the destruction of the indigenous people of Crimea," she wrote.

She also expressed condolences due to the death of a veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement, Vedzhie Kashka.

"Our sincere condolences... There are no words, but the occupier cannot hide from justice. The accountability for all crimes will come," Betsa wrote.

On Thursday, November 23, the Russian occupation forces conducted searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars and detained activists Bekir Degirmendzhi, Asan Chapukh, and Kyazim Ametov. At the site of the detention of activists was also a veteran of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars, 82-year-old Vedzhie Kashka, who fell unwell and was taken to a hospital where she died.

On November 16, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, which deals with human rights, supported the resolution on the violation of human rights in Crimea by the Russian occupation authorities.
