PGO opens proceedings against NABU chief - spokesperson

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has opened proceedings against Head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Artem Sytnyk.

The prosecutor general's spokesperson, Larysa Sarhan, said this live on the 112 Ukraine television channel on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Such proceedings have been opened," she said.

According to Sarhan, criminal proceedings were opened following appeals by MP Olena Masorina (the People's Front faction) and Iryna Nimets, "who appears in the published tapes allegedly involving the head of a law enforcement agency."

As reported, People's Front MP Anton Gerashchenko released an audio recording on which NABU Head Artem Sytnyk allegedly discloses to unknown individuals the results of wiretapped phone conversations of former Deputy Military Prosecutor Kostiantyn Kulyk with his wife.
