PEN Club in Berlin to hold rally in support of Oleg Sentsov

The German center of the PEN Club will hold a rally in support of Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov, illegally imprisoned in Russia.

Krym. Realii portal reported this with reference to the Facebook page of the event.

"The action organized by Berlin activist, writer and PEN member Freya Klier will be held in front of the Russian Embassy in Berlin on November 15. We call for the immediate release of Oleg Sentsov," the organizers said.

The PEN Club also urges to release "all Crimean Ukrainians deported by the Russian occupation forces over the protection of their homeland."

Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was detained by Russian security services in Crimea in May 2014 on charges of plotting terrorist attacks on the peninsula.

On August 25, 2015, the North-Caucasian Military Court in Russia's Rostov-on-Don sentenced Oleg Sentsov to 20 years in a penal colony for alleged "plotting acts of terrorism."
