Number of Ukrainian tourists in Egypt doubled despite the state of emergency

The request of Ukrainian tourists to rest in Egypt continues to grow, despite the adoption by the Egyptian authorities of a decision on the extension of the state of emergency in the country.

Head of the Egypt direction of the JoinUP! tour operator Kateryna Artyukh said this to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"In October, about 40 thousand tourists from JoinUP! rested in Egypt, and since the adoption of this decision on July 4 - more than 90 thousand tourists. Therefore, the demand for resorts continues to grow, and following the results of 2017 we will send about 300 thousand Ukrainian tourists to Egypt, which is twice more than in 2016. Fifty-six charters weekly take-off to resorts in Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and new resort Marsa-Alam," the representative of the tour operator said.

She has stressed that at the moment all Ukrainian tourists are in complete safety and rest in hotels in Egypt according to booked tours.

As reported, the Egyptian Parliament in April approved a three-month emergency state, which was extended in July, and then in October for another three months.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Egypt during the state of emergency.
