About 3,500 law enforcers to maintain public order during today’s rallies in Kyiv

About 3,500 law enforcement officers, including National Guard servicemen, will maintain security and public order during mass rallies expected in Kyiv on October 17.

Chief of the National Police in the city of Kyiv, Andriy Kryshchenko, stated this on 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

"We received several applications for holding mass rallies near the building of the Verkhovna Rada, applications for a fairly large number of people, according to various estimates, up to 10 thousand people are expected to gather near the Verkhovna Rada. Moreover, traffic [on some roads] will be blocked due to an official visit of the President of Malta. Currently 3,500 law enforcement officers [are involved], including the National Guard army, which maintains public order in the city center. If the situation worsens, additional forces may be employed,” Kryshchenko said.
