Over 21,600 Hasidic pilgrims arrive in Uman

Over 21,600 Hasidic pilgrims from 12 countries have already arrived in Uman, Cherkasy region, to mark the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah, the media liaisons office of the Cherkasy regional police has reported.

"As of the morning of September 19, more than 21,600 Hasidic pilgrims from 12 countries arrived in the city of Uman for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah," reads the statement.

Some 40,000 pilgrims are expected to arrive in Ukraine this year to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, which falls on September 20-22. About 500 Ukrainian police officers and at least 15 Israeli police officers will maintain public order in Uman.
