Ukrainian-German festival to open in Kyiv on September 9

The Year of German language in Ukraine opens with a street festival at Kontraktova Square in Kyiv, which will be held on September 9-10.

Director of Goethe-Institut in Ukraine Beate Köhler announced this at a briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Ukrainian-German Year of Languages opens with a big festival on Kontraktova Square on September 9-10. Various festival events will be held from 12:00 to 22:00," Köhler said.

She says that the festival will begin with a bike ride from Yevropeiska Square to Kontraktova Square, where the most massive lesson of the German language will be held. During the day, the festival guests will be able to start learning German by participating in free language interactive workshops, playing football, taking part in the contest "Europe in puzzles" and even trying German food. Entrance to the festival will be free.

Köhler informs that the schedule of the festival events will be made public on the Goethe-Institut Ukraine website on September 7.
