Ukrainian government promises to provide social assistance to retirees who lack labor experience

The draft pension reform provides for the introduction of government social assistance to Ukrainian citizens who attained the age of retirement but do not have the required labor experience, Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Andrii Reva has stated at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, such a new type of government targeted social assistance will be called a ‘provisional government social aid to a non-employed person who attained the general retirement age but is not eligible for pension payments’.

“A targeted government social aid will be assigned to people who have not less than 15 years of pension insurance record but do not have 25 years of labor experience based on their income in the amount of a living wage within three years, and it will be paid to them until they become eligible for pension payments,” Reva said.
