Ukraine declares 2017 the year of tourism development

Ukraine has declared 2017 as the year of tourism development, according to Ivan Liptuha, the head of the tourism and resort department at the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

“The department has developed a relevant draft of President’s Decree. Our country has decided to act in the same way as the United Nations: in the framework of the Year of Sustainable Tourism Development, established by the General Assembly of this international organization," Liptuha wrote on Facebook.

The UN resolution notes the importance of tourism in increasing chances for people to develop mutual understanding, sharing the values of different cultures, promoting peace in the world.

Liptuha called on Ukrainians to carry out regional activities on sustainable tourism, study new directions in tourism, share knowledge and information, as well as invite many guests.

“The slogan of the year – Travel. Enjoy. Respect,” Ivan Liptuha wrote.
