Health Index research launched in Ukraine

Ukraine has launched Health Index large-scale healthcare sector research.

Viktoria Tymoshevska, the Public Health program initiative director of the International Renaissance Foundation said this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine needs a tool that would assess the status and system of healthcare from the point of view of a person receiving medical care, as well as the attitude and behavior of people who do not seek medical care because of lack of funds or due to problems of physical access to healthcare facilities," Tymoshevska said.

According to her, current medical statistics does not reflect the real picture in Ukraine. A similar study, Euro Health Consumer Index, has long been launched in the EU. However, Ukraine has developed a separate methodology, since such a large-scale healthcare sector research is carried out in Ukraine for the first time.
