One third of Ukrainians ready to leave for permanent residence abroad – study

Nearly 40% of Ukrainians want to find a job abroad, and about 30% are ready to leave for permanent residence abroad.

Such results of the study were presented by head of the Rating sociological group Oleksiy Antipovich at a press conference at Ukrinform news agency.

"30% of Ukrainians would like to leave for permanent residence abroad. This is one third of Ukrainians. At the same time, about 40% want to find a job abroad, not to live but just work abroad. It is a significant figure, but who are these people? Mainly, people, who want to emigrate and look for a job abroad, are residents of the western regions of Ukraine, young or middle-aged people, mostly men, people with higher education and rather well-off," Antipovich said.

As the expert noted, over 50% of Ukrainians have explained that they are ready to move abroad, because they are convinced that they will have better living conditions there. More than 40% are ready to leave Ukraine because of the desire for a better future for their children, and another 30% – because of the lack of decent job in Ukraine.
