Ukraine’s population shrinks by 100,000 for six months

The Ukrainian population shrank by 102,400 people for the first six months of 2016 to 42,658 million people as of July 1, 2016.

This is reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

"The number of deaths significantly exceeds the number of births in Ukraine: 100 deaths against 64 births," the report says.

In January-June this year, as reported by the State Statistics Service, 190,750 babies were born, whereas 198,290 babies were born within the same period last year.

It is also noted that the natural decline in population by 109,053 people was registered in January-June 2016, whereas the population decreased by 114, 922 people in January-June 2015.
