1,500 Ukrainians apply for asylum in Germany

Almost 1,500 Ukrainians applied for asylum in Germany during the first half of 2016. The German agencies now consider more than 6,000 relevant applications from Ukrainians. 

This is stated in the response of the federal government to the inquiry from the Bundestag, DW reports with reference to KNA Catholic news agency.

"1,474 Ukrainian citizens applied for asylum in Germany during the first half of 2016," the article reads.

1,292 applications were considered for six months. As of the end of June, 6,299 applications for asylum from Ukrainians are pending consideration at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The German officials recognized Ukrainians as refugees in ten cases, while the number of rejected applications was 570, the response says.
