Minister: number of Ukrainian single mothers skyrocketed 22 times over past 10 years

The number of Ukrainian single mothers has surged 22 times over the past 10 years, Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva has said.

"The number of single mothers has increased 22 times in 10 years," the Minister said.

He noted that as of January 1, 2016, there were 600,000 single mothers. According to Reva, the number is too high. "And the war is not the cause of it. For the uptrends for this figure has been registered for 10 years," he added.

The press center said that the assistance amount paid out at the birth of a child totals about UAH 40,000 that is transferred in installments divided for three years.
