Kyiv city reports hike in flu and respiratory viral cases - authorities

Compared with the last weekend the capital city has seen an increased number of flu and respiratory viral cases.

The department of health of the Kyiv city administration reports.

"The number of reported cases of flu and respiratory viral for 18 January in comparison with the last weekend has increased and amounts to 7,253 people," a statement said.

As of January 19, health care facilities that include operate infectious, therapeutic and pulmonary departments had 434 in-patients with respiratory viral infection, and 166 patients with flu.

Out of the 166 patients with the flu, 135 people are being cared for in clinics, while 31 people were transferred to intensive care units. A total of 51 pregnant women were hospitalized with the flu and respiratory viral infection symptoms.
