New round of peace talks could take place in early October — Budanov
Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President, stated that peace talks in a trilateral format could take place in early October of this year.
He made these remarks on the sidelines of the annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting in Kyiv, according to Ukrinform, citing the Office of the President.
As noted, on the sidelines of YES, Kyrylo Budanov held a meeting with Germany’s National Security Advisor Günter Sautter, France’s Emmanuel Bonn, Italy’s Fabrizio Saggio, and the United Kingdom’s — Jonathan Powell, as well as a separate meeting with the British side to coordinate a common position and discuss important decisions.
The Head of the Office of the President expressed his conviction that the next round of peace talks on Ukraine could take place in early October and would focus on a gradual reduction in airstrikes.
“It is important that the U.S. and Europe participate in the negotiations,” he emphasized.
“The main issues will be Black Sea shipping and reducing the number of strikes on civilian targets, critical infrastructure, and the like. Everyone exchanged views on this matter. The Russians are well aware of this and also have their own ideas on how to handle it. We’re waiting,” Budanov said.
According to the head of the Presidential Office, it is important not to waste time and to work on creating a new security architecture in Europe, an integral part of which must be Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine—a point Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly emphasized while calling for cooperation.
As reported by Ukrinform, Zelensky stated that he plans to meet with Trump in September and will subsequently work on organizing a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi confirmed the existence of a preliminary agreement on a face-to-face meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. in September.
