Sybiha hails Baltic states' decision to bar Fico's plane from flying to Moscow
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has thanked Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for refusing to allow Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to use their airspace for a visit to Russia.
Sybiha said this in a post on X, Ukrinform reports.
"Thank you to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania for taking a strong stance against the use of their airspace to deepen ties with Russia. For those who have forgotten, Russia continues to wage an aggressive war against Ukraine, posing a direct threat to Europe's security and international order," he said.
Sybiha stressed that firm and sustained pressure must continue until Russia is held fully accountable.
The minister also called on other countries to follow the Baltic states' example and deny access to their airspace.
"Let's make up for the lack of consciousness with a lack of air routes," he added.
As reported, Lithuania and Latvia decided to close their airspace to the aircraft carrying Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during his flight to Moscow for May 9 events.
Estonia later announced it would also ban Fico's government plane from using its airspace.
