Ukraine opens embassy in Panama to expand diplomatic, economic ties in Latin America
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has officially inaugurated Ukraine's embassy in the Panama, marking a step toward strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation in Latin America.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the minister took part in the inauguration ceremony of the embassy on Friday, March 13, Ukrinform reports.
Sybiha said the new diplomatic mission will work to enhance political dialogue, deepen economic cooperation, support cultural ties, and bring the societies of the two countries closer together.
"Panama is a link between continents, oceans and economies. Ukraine is a link between global food security, innovation and resilience. And above all, this embassy symbolizes something very important – presence. Ukraine is present in Panama. Ukraine is present in Latin America," he said.
The minister thanked the government of Panama for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity during these difficult times.
Sybiha also expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian diplomats who will work at the embassy, noting that "diplomacy is not only about politics – it is about people who dedicate their lives to building understanding between nations."
As reported earlier, Sybiha held a meeting with the heads of Ukraine's diplomatic missions in Latin American countries to focus on promoting Ukraine's national interests in the region.
