Zelensky meets with Klöckner: Germany plans record support for Ukrainian Armed Forces this year
President Volodymyr Zelensky met today with Bundestag President Julia Klöckner, who is visiting Ukraine for the first time as speaker of the German parliament.
A Ukrinform correspondent reported this.
Before the meeting, he thanked Klöckner for all the assistance that Germany has provided to Ukraine during the war and plans to continue this year: "You have supported Ukraine throughout the aggression, throughout all these years. We are grateful for the record financial support for our army in 2026, a decision that is very important to us. The decision to provide support throughout the years, regarding air defense systems, is important."
Separately, Zelensky expressed gratitude for the support of Ukraine's energy sector and emphasized that Germany continues to advocate for Ukraine on its path to European Union membership.
As reported, today, March 11, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, Julia Klöckner said that despite the war in the Middle East, Germany will not lose sight of Ukraine and will continue its support. She noted that every session day in the Rada is also a message to the Russian president, who feels only contempt for freedom and democracy.
On February 25, the Bundestag passed a resolution calling on the German government to continue to consistently support Ukraine, in particular by providing the necessary weapons systems.
