Court extends Shufrych's preventive measure until May 9
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has decided to extend the detention of Nestor Shufrych, a member of parliament from the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, until May 9, 2026, with the possibility of bail in excess of 33 million hryvnias.
This was reported in a comment to Ukrinform by Iryna Frolova, spokesperson for the Shevchenkivskyi District Court.
“The court extended the preventive measure in the form of detention until May 9 for the MP from the Opposition Platform – For Life party. The amount of bail remained unchanged,” she said, responding to a question about Shufrych.
As reported by Ukrinform, earlier, the Kyiv Court of Appeals set bail for Shufrych at 33 million hryvnias, as an alternative to detention in a pre-trial detention center.
In September 2024, the Office of the Prosecutor General sent the indictment in the Shufrych case to the court for consideration on its merits.
Shufrych is accused of financing actions aimed at violently changing the constitutional order and seizing state power (Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The deputy is also accused of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
