Hegseth announces “most intense day” of US strikes on Iran
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that “today will be the most intense day of strikes on Iran.”
He made this statement during a briefing, according to CNBS, Ukrinform reports.
“Today will be, yet again, our most intense day of strikes inside Iran. The most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes. Intelligence more refined and better than ever,” Hegseth stated.
He added that over the past 24 hours, the United States has witnessed “Iran fire the lowest number of missiles they've been capable of firing yet.”
Hegseth also noted that “Iran stands alone, and they are badly losing.”
“Neighbors, and in some cases, former allies in the Gulf, have abandoned them. And their proxies, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Hamas, are either broken, ineffective or on the sidelines,” he emphasized.
He stressed that the US is “winning with an overwhelming and unrelenting focus on our objectives.”
At the same time, Hegseth noted that he would not say how long the war would last, adding that Trump had set “a very specific mission to accomplish”.
"Our will is endless. Ultimately, the president gets to determine the end state of those objectives, right? But what he's said continually, and I want the American people to understand, is this is not endless. It's not protracted. It's not for me to posit whether it's the beginning, the middle or the end. That's his, and he'll continue to communicate that," Hegseth said.
As reported by Ukrinform, US President Donald Trump suggested that the war with Iran could end soon.
