Zelensky: Talks in Abu Dhabi still on schedule
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that despite the difficult security situation in the UAE, the meeting of the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia planned for March 5–8 in Abu Dhabi has not been canceled so far.
Zelensky stated this while answering journalists' questions, Ukrinform reports.
"The meeting was scheduled for the period from the 5th to the 8th, approximately March 5–6. The meeting was planned in Abu Dhabi. For now, due to these hostilities, we cannot confirm that the meeting will take place specifically in Abu Dhabi, but nevertheless, no one has canceled the meeting. The meeting must take place; it is important for us. We support this meeting," Zelensky said.
He also added that if it proves impossible to hold the talks in Abu Dhabi due to the security situation, there are other venues where similar negotiations have already been conducted.
"If there are difficulties with Abu Dhabi because of missiles and drones, then I think we have Turkey and Switzerland – venues that have already worked and provided an opportunity for all of us to meet. We will definitely support any of these three venues for the meeting. We are waiting for a response from our partners," he said.
As Ukrinform previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky, following talks in Geneva, stated that there is progress on military issues, namely monitoring the ceasefire, while on political issues – territories, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and other sensitive matters – the parties' positions remain different.
