Poland seeks just peace for Ukraine and supports its EU membership – Marshal of Sejm in Verkhovna Rada

Poland seeks a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine with security guarantees and a European perspective – one that will only be possible after Russia is forced to end its aggression.

The Marshal of the Sejm of Poland, Wlodzimierz Czarzasty, stated this during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, according to a correspondent from Ukrinform.

"Exactly four years ago, Russia, our common enemy, violating all principles of international law and driven by hatred of Ukrainian independence and Ukrainian democracy, carried out an unprecedented and shameful attack on your country… I condemn President Putin as a criminal and condemn the people who, under his orders, commit killings and rapes against the Ukrainian people," Czarzasty said.

He noted that in recent months, negotiations on the terms of a ceasefire and on future international security guarantees for Ukraine have so far yielded no results.

"We stand with you, our Ukrainian friends, in the hope of a lasting and just peace. However, we know that it will come only when Russia is forced – by your heroic warriors and international pressure – to end its aggression against Ukraine," he emphasized.

He pointed out that in the past, Poland repeatedly suffered the consequences of the great-power concept, which ignored the interests of smaller countries.

"That was the case in Tehran, Yalta, and Potsdam. Therefore, today, just like most European countries, just like Ukraine, we expect – more than that, we demand – the restoration of principles, the restoration of an international order based on law and democratic values that respects the interests of all states. We demand a just peace for Ukraine," Czarzasty stressed.

According to him, one of the most important security guarantees for Ukraine and its development will be its accession to the European Union.

"Poland supports these aspirations with all its might. You will be in the European Union," he declared.

As Ukrinform reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during a speech at the Alliance headquarters on the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, stated that NATO will continue to support Ukraine, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin must demonstrate whether he is truly committed to peace.
