Zelensky honors memory of fallen heroes together with foreign guests on Maidan
President Volodymyr Zelensky, together with foreign guests who arrived in Kyiv on the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion, honored the memory of the fallen heroes on Maidan.
He stated this on Telegram after laying symbolic candles of remembrance at the memorial, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine has withstood numerous strikes thanks to the strength of our warriors. Thanks to those who did not retreat, who became a shield for their country. We are proud of each and every one who defends Ukraine. We honor the memory of all fallen Ukrainian defenders, those who made the ultimate sacrifice for a free Ukraine," Zelensky said.
He emphasized that "we will certainly preserve what they fought for. We will defend our independence. We will not betray our heroes. We will not betray Ukraine."
As reported, today 11 high-level foreign guests arrived in Kyiv to take part in events marking the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, including the leaders of the European Union and the heads of Northern European and Baltic states. Many other countries and organizations are represented at other levels.
Four years ago, on February 24, 2022, Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. At around 03:40, the first column of Russian tanks entered the territory of the Luhansk region, and Ukrainians in many cities woke up to the attacks of the first enemy missiles.
Over four years of full-scale war, Ukraine has inflicted significant losses on Russia in manpower, weapons, and military equipment.
According to the General Staff, the total combat losses of Russian forces in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to February 24, 2026, amount to approximately 1,261,420 personnel.
