Zelensky, Aliyev discuss energy projects and peace process

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to discuss the implementation of energy projects as well as the negotiation process aimed at establishing peace.

According to Ukrinform, the Office of the President of Ukraine stated this on its website.

It was noted that Zelensky expressed gratitude for the recent package of energy support, which included generators and transformers, among other things.

The Ukrainian President informed Aliyev about the overall situation in the energy system and the impact of Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities.

The leaders also discussed the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of energy projects in which Azerbaijan is interested and ready to deepen cooperation.

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ilham Aliyev agreed that their teams will work through all the necessary issues," the Office of the President noted.

During the meeting, the presidents also focused on the negotiation process to achieve peace.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine always constructively supports efforts that can help achieve a just peace. "The only reason the war is still ongoing is Russia's unwillingness to end it," he added.

As Ukrinform reported, President Zelensky will participate on Saturday, February 14, in a special session of the Munich Security Conference and hold a series of bilateral meetings. Planned bilateral talks include meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Congress senators (separately), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as leaders of 18 international investment companies.
