Yevhenii Khmara to become acting Head of Security Service of Ukraine

Yevhenii Khmara, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine's Special Operations Center “A,” will become the acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

This was announced to journalists by Dmytro Lytvyn, advisor to the President of Ukraine on communications, according to Ukrinform.

Responding to journalists' questions about what position Yevhenii Khmara will hold pending the relevant decisions of the Verkhovna Rada, Lytvyn said: “Khmara will be acting [head of the SBU].”

As reported, Vasyl Maliuk announced today that he is stepping down as Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

After that, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Yevhenii Khmara, at which they discussed the possibilities for the systematic development of the SSU and scaling up the experience of Ukrainian special forces.
