Oleh Ivashchenko to head Defense Intelligence of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FISU) Oleh Ivashchenko will continue serving the country in a position within the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. The Office of the President clarified that Ivashchenko will lead the DIU.

The President made this announcement on Telegram following a meeting with Ivashchenko, Ukrinform reports.

"Starting today, Oleh Ivashchenko will continue serving our state and carrying out tasks to limit Russia’s military potential in a position within the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine," Zelensky said.

Presidential communications advisor Dmytro Lytvyn clarified that Ivashchenko will lead the DIU, and the necessary documentation processes are currently underway.

During his briefing to the President, while still serving as Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko reported on the overall situation surrounding Ukraine and current threats.

"We will continue to focus on reducing Russia’s economic potential – the less the aggressor earns, the more opportunities there will be for diplomacy. This particularly concerns Russian oil exports, which will be further restricted and driven down in price," Zelensky emphasized following the briefing.
