Zelensky discusses possibility of U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine for 30-50 years with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with President Donald Trump the possibility of extending U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine for a period of 30-50 years.

Zelensky made this statement while answering journalists’ questions, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.

The President noted that the current documents provide for strong U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine for a term of 15 years, with the possibility of extension.

“I raised this issue with the President [Trump]. I told him that the war has already been going on for almost 15 years. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate it if the security guarantees could be extended. And I told him that we would very much like to consider the possibility of 30, 40, or 50 years. Then this would be a historic decision by President Trump,” Zelensky said.
