Zelensky does not yet see China's readiness to join peace process
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he currently does not see China's readiness to join the peace process. According to him, China has instead increased the volume of imports of Russian energy resources.
Zelensky stated this during a press conference, Ukrinform reports.
"I do not yet see China's readiness to join the peace track. We have always wanted China - and it can, it has the capacity - to put pressure on Russia to stop this war. China has not done this, unfortunately. On the contrary, it has increased the volume of imports of Russian energy resources. Today, China is the largest importer, and we know where this money goes," Zelensky said.
He stressed that the money from Russian energy exports is spent by Russia on the war. "Unfortunately, this is China's role today," he added.
As Ukrinform previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the day before that by the end of the year Ukraine will adopt several more sanctions against Russian entities, as well as individuals who facilitate the aggression. The sanctions lists will include not only Russian citizens, but also citizens of other states, including China.
