Ukrainian, Czech defense ministers discuss cooperation under European SAFE mechanism

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held talks with Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Jaromir Zuna on the development of security cooperation.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported this on its website, according to Ukrinform.

Shmyhal congratulated his counterpart on the appointment and thanked him for comprehensive support. The sides focused on ways to develop defense cooperation to strengthen the security of both Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

In particular, Shmyhal emphasized the importance of the "Czech initiative" to supply ammunition to Ukraine.

"Our countries have significant potential to deepen cooperation. We are ready to share our experience and technological solutions and to launch joint ventures, including in the field of cutting-edge drones," Shmyhal said.

The parties also separately discussed opportunities for cooperation within the European SAFE mechanism. According to Shmyhal, Ukraine is ready to jointly implement projects that will strengthen the defense capabilities of the armed forces of both countries.

"I am grateful for the constructive conversation and readiness to develop strategic defense cooperation," he said.
