Latvia to allocate additional EUR 5M for drones for Ukraine

Latvian MPs have approved the reallocation of EUR 5 million to purchase unmanned systems to support Ukraine in 2025.

That is according to Delfi, Ukrinform reports.

The funding will be redirected from the Latvian Foreign Ministry's budget program for contributions to the European Peace Facility for the current year. The money will instead go to the Latvian Defense Ministry to procure drone systems for Ukraine and support the development of Latvia's dual-use technology industry.

The Latvian Foreign Ministry said the reallocation was possible because Hungary blocked a decision on providing military support to Ukraine through the European Peace Facility. As a result, Latvia's planned contributions for 2025 were not fully used, allowing the unused funds to be redirected within the state budget.
