Partners pledge USD 1B under PURL at NATO-Ukraine Council meeting

During the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, five countries confirmed additional funding of about $1 billion for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine under the PURL program.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported this while speaking with journalists in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that, compared to previous meetings of the NATO-Ukraine Council in which he had participated, today’s meeting was the most productive in terms of the contributions and decisions made by participating countries for Ukraine’s defence.

“We… calculated that this amounts to about one billion dollars in additional confirmations from our allies to support our army through the PURL program… During the meeting, five countries additionally announced this,” Sybiha said.

He added that it was especially important for him to feel unity and determination in supporting Ukraine at this time.
