Zelensky meets Ireland’s President to discuss return of children, EU accession

After meeting with Ireland’s President Catherine Connolly, which was also attended by Ukraine’s First Lady, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the main topics of discussion were the return of children, European integration, and food security.

According to Ukrinform, the Head of State reported this on Telegram.

“Together, we met in Dublin with President Catherine Connolly. We are here on an official visit today. Among the main issues, we discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, two Irish universities joining the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, Ukraine’s accession to the EU, and the steps and decisions to help accelerate this process,” Zelensky said.

He noted that the meeting also covered cooperation on ensuring global food security, the rehabilitation and social reintegration of Ukrainian warriors, and the construction of shelters in schools.

“We thank Ireland for its support, and for the financial and humanitarian assistance it has provided since the start of Russia’s full-scale war. For all types of support to our people. This means a lot to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian President concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, today Volodymyr Zelensky and Olena Zelenska arrived in Ireland for an official visit. The program of the visit includes high-level meetings, a speech in the Irish parliament, participation in the opening ceremony of the Ireland-Ukraine Economic Forum, and a meeting with the Ukrainian community.
