Searches at Yermak's home: No charges filed, investigative actions ongoing – source
Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) conducted searches at the residence of Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. No individuals were served with suspicion notices during the investigative actions.
A well-informed source at NABU said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"NABU and SAPO, on the basis of a ruling by a High Anti-Corruption Court investigative judge, carried out searches at the home of the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. No one has been served with a suspicion notice. Investigative actions are ongoing," the agency's source said.
Earlier on November 28, NABU confirmed that searches were being conducted at Yermak's residence.
On November 10, NABU announced a special operation called "Midas" to expose corruption in the energy sector. The investigation found that members of a criminal organization had built a large-scale scheme to influence strategic state-owned enterprises, including Energoatom. According to NABU, five out of seven suspects have been detained as part of the case.
Among those involved is a businessman considered by investigators to be the leader of the criminal organization, a former adviser to the energy minister, and Energoatom's executive director for physical protection and security.
According to the investigative outlet Schemes, citing its sources, suspicion notices were issued to businessman and Kvartal 95 co-founder Tymur Mindich (codenamed "Karlson" in NABU tapes), former adviser to the energy minister Ihor Myroniuk ("Rocket"), Energoatom's executive director for physical protection and security Dmytro Basov ("Tenor"), and four additional members of the so-called back office for money laundering: Oleksandr Tsukerman ("Sugarman"), Ihor Fursenko ("Rioshyk"), Lesia Ustymenko, and Liudmyla Zorina.
Five suspects have been detained. Mindich and Tsukerman have left Ukraine.
According to NABU, the office used for the scheme was located in central Kyiv in premises belonging to the family of traitor Andriy Derkach, a former Ukrainian MP who is now a senator in Russia. Investigators say the office housed "black accounting," cash storage, and records of all payments.
Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov testified to NABU on November 25 as part of the anti-corruption operation "Midas."
