Ukraine's Sybiha announces upcoming talks with US, hopes for concrete results

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has announced that U.S. and Ukrainian negotiating teams will hold meetings soon, from which Kyiv expects concrete results and progress.

He stated this at a joint briefing with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braze in Kyiv on Thursday, November 27, Ukrinform reports.

"I confirm that we should expect a meeting of the negotiating teams in the near future. What are our expectations? We expect concrete results that will ensure progress. For us, it is extremely important – and Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated this – to achieve a ceasefire," he said.

Sybiha clarified that all diplomatic efforts were now focused on ensuring a peaceful process.

"Yes, Ukraine is interested in top-level contacts, in a meeting between President Zelensky and President Trump, because some of the most sensitive issues can be discussed only at the leaders' level," he said.

Sybiha earlier stated that Ukraine would use every opportunity, even the smallest, to achieve a just peace and that it was critically important "not to allow anyone to portray Ukraine or Europe as an obstacle to peace."
