U.S. not ruling out sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine — MFA
The United States are not ruling out the possibility of sending Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, and discussions on the matter are ongoing between Ukrainian and American teams.
That is according to Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“We hear and welcome a positive signal from the United States regarding the possibility of providing this very powerful weapon. I want to remind you that Ukraine had already raised the issue of transferring these powerful Tomahawk missiles even earlier. In fact, under the previous US administration. At that time, the answer was ‘no’. Now there is no ‘no’ answer. Instead, there is a very detailed and important discussion about their transfer,” Tykhyi said at a briefing.
He noted that Ukrainian and American teams are currently working to coordinate all the details, including the forms and configurations in which the missiles could be supplied to Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman emphasized that the missiles should be supplied not “to intimidate Russia.” According to him, they would allow Ukraine, in particular, to deprive Russia of several means of terror.
“This is about a very practical use in the war — to bring it to an end,” the diplomat added.
As reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that U.S. President Donald Trump, during their recent meeting in New York, for the first time had not rejected his request for the supply of Tomahawk missiles.
