Finland deploys contingent to Denmark to combat drones

Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced the deployment of a Finnish contingent to Denmark to combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

He made the announcement on social media X, according to Ukrinform.

“Finland stands fully behind Denmark in its efforts to secure the airspace and countering hybrid activities of the kind we have seen in the last days and weeks,” Stubb wrote.

He stressed that in order to provide concrete assistance, Finland has decided today to deploy a UAV countermeasures contingent in Denmark. The Finnish Border Guard will also provide support with its own capabilities.

The Finnish president considers “this a wonderful example of the concrete cooperation between the Nordic countries that we need today.”

“We will keep aligning our approaches to countering hybrid threats and pushing the capability development in Europe,” Stubb concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, France, Germany, and Sweden have sent resources to Denmark to combat drones in order to secure the informal summit of EU heads of state and government scheduled for October 1 in Copenhagen.

The UK will provide technological support to Denmark in its fight against drones after several airports were forced to suspend operations in recent days due to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
