Sikorski: Trump must realize that Putin is mocking him
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that U.S. President Donald Trump must understand that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is mocking him and his peace initiatives to end the war in Ukraine.
He said this in an interview with PBS News, according to Ukrinform.
Sikorski noted that he respects Trump’s peace efforts.
“We all want, as neighbors of Ukraine and Russia, to see peace restored, but we believe that Putin only answers to the most forceful actions, and that Putin has been taking advantage of President Trump's goodwill for too long,” the Polish Minister said.
He added that “I think it's high time that President Trump should see that Putin is mocking him. Instead of a ceasefire that was supposed to happen before the Alaska summit and serious peace talks, Putin is sending more and more drones, first at Ukraine and now at NATO,” Sikorski stressed.
The Polish diplomat expressed hope that “at the end of this process, we have a series of coordinated moves to make President Putin realize that this exotic project of rebuilding the Russian empire will not stand”.
As reported by Ukrinform, Polish forces shot down drones that violated Polish airspace during the night of September 10.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that it was Russian drones that in vast numbers intruded into Poland’s airspace, and said that NATO allies are facing a large-scale provocation from Moscow.
