Sybiha on transfer of F-16s from Netherlands: A crucial step in strengthening Ukraine's air defense

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed gratitude to the Netherlands for its unwavering support of Ukraine following the transfer of the final batch of F-16 fighter jets.

According to Ukrinform, the minister said this in a post on the social media platform X.

"The transfer of all committed F-16 fighter jets marks a crucial step in strengthening Ukraine's air defense at a time when Russia continues its brutal airstrikes against civilian targets and infrastructure," Sybiha wrote.

He noted that F-16s are especially good at intercepting cruise missiles, "which Russia uses to terrorize Ukrainian cities and communities." He thanked the Netherlands for this important contribution.

"Enhancing Ukraine's air defense capabilities — through modern aircraft, ammunition, spare parts, and pilot training — is essential not only for protecting lives but also for ensuring long-term security and stability in Europe," Sybiha said.

He added that Dutch solidarity "saves lives and brings us closer to peace."
