Support for Ukraine, European unity: Zelensky meets with Merz
In Munich, Volodymyr Zelensky met with the chairman of the Christian Democratic Union party, the leader of the CDU/CSU opposition faction in the German Bundestag, Friedrich Merz.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the President's website.
“The Head of State thanked Germany for its assistance to Ukrainians from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion and for its leading role in strengthening Ukraine's air defense,” the statement said.
The key topic of the meeting was support for Ukraine and the importance of unity among European countries. The President emphasized that a just end to the war and reliable security guarantees should be a priority for all Ukraine's allies.
The parties had a separate discussion on defense support for our state, strengthening of our warriors at the frontline and investments in our domestic weapons production.
As reported, Merz said that he supports the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, provided there is close coordination with European partners.
