Greece to help Ukraine rebuild Odesa - Prime Minister

Greece is ready to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine with a focus on Odesa where the task is to restore historical buildings damaged and destroyed by Russia.

Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of this with journalists following a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in Athens, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"As I emphasized during our meeting, Mr. President, Greece will be present in the titanic efforts to reconstruct and rebuild your country, using our extensive experience in the construction sector, through public-private partnerships, having strong capabilities in the field of digitalization, healthcare, protection of cultural monuments with a focus on Odesa, whose historic center was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites with the support of Greece," Mitsotakis said.

He added that Greece, in particular, could participate in the restoration of damaged historical buildings.

The head of the Greek government also noted that no one forgets the crime Russia committed against Mariupol, many of whose residents are of Greek origin, as well as against Kyiv and other regions.

"We condemn these war crimes committed on the territory of your country, which should be prosecuted by the International Court," the prime minister stressed.

As reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on a visit to Greece on August 21. Prior to that, he visited Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
