Kostin, members of Group of Friends discuss coordinated efforts to counter Russia

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin and New York members of the Group of Friends of Accountability Following the Aggression Against Ukraine discussed the coordination of efforts to counter the Russian aggressor.

According to Ukrinform, the Prosecutor General’s Office wrote this on Telegram.

According to Kostin, “from Ukraine to Australia, the Russian criminal regime is a threat to the whole civilized world.”

“Delighted to see the friends of Ukraine uniting efforts to stop Russia and hold the perpetrators of international crimes accountable. Support at the United Nations is crucial for securing justice and restoring peace,” Kostin noted.

The Group of Friends of Accountability Following the Aggression Against Ukraine (the Group of Friends) is an informal forum of states that aims to ensure accountability for international crimes committed as a result of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The group, established in March 2022, is based in New York and Geneva. Its goals include exchange of information between states and relevant international organizations, institutions and civil society to improve justice mechanisms; the involvement of small states that are highly interested in observing the principles of the rule of law.

As reported by Ukrinform, according to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, about 80,000 war crimes committed by Russians in Ukraine have been officially registered.
