World should not turn away from Russian troops brutality in Ukraine - US Ambassador

The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink believes that the world should not turn its back on the terrible brutality of Russian troops in Ukraine, which Ukrainian and international journalists record.

The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"AP photographer Evgeniy Maloletka captured the horrific brutality of Russia's forces in its war against Ukraine. The world must not look away, and Ukrainian and international journalists have, at great risk, done dangerous and important work to show the awful reality – and heartbreaking human toll – of Russia's aggression in Ukraine," - Brink said.

As reported, the work of Ukrainian photojournalist Evgeniy Maloletka about the shelling of a maternity hospital in besieged Mariupol by Russian troops became one of the winners of the most prestigious international photo award World Press Photo in 2023.

Maloletka's photo shows a 32-year-old injured pregnant woman, Iryna Kalinina, being carried out of a maternity hospital that was damaged during a Russian airstrike in Mariupol. Her baby was stillborn, and Iryna died half an hour after giving birth.
